Ultherapy (HIFU)

Description  (Overview)

For those who are experiencing early signs of aging and desire a non-surgical approach to reducing fine lines and wrinkles, ultrasound skin tightening offers patients an alternative to a more invasive procedure. Ultrasound skin tightening, also referred to as Ultherapy, utilizes concentrated ultrasound waves to create heat deep within the dermis and SMAS muscle. Ultherapy is different than radiofrequency or laser skin tightening methods since the ultrasound energy does not affect the outer layers of skin. Ultrasound waves are targeted to heat up underlying tissue to elicit the body’s healing response which then encourages collagen and elastin production. Collagen and elastin help to firm and tighten skin, allowing for a noticeable lift in the skin.

Before treatment, the face will be marked to denote where facial nerves are located so they are not damaged during the procedure. Ultrasound gel will be applied to the treatment area and then the session will begin. The ultrasound handpiece will be applied to the treatment area and held for a series of pulses. Depending on the treatment area, the skin will be treated at varying depths from 1-4.5mm.

The goal of ultrasound skin tightening is to tighten mild to moderately loose skin on the face and neck.

Why Ultherapy  Is  Reguired?

Ultherapy is a nonsurgical alternative to a facelift. It’s used to counteract signs of aging like skin sagging and wrinkles on the face, neck, and chest as well as drooping of the brow area. The FDA-cleared technology stimulates collagen production, which should create a more youthful look overall.

Why Iran Is  Suitable For Ultherapy?

Patient Eligibility \ Who Can Have Ultherapy?

If you have mild to moderate sagging of the face and neck, as well as loose skin under the chin, you may be a good candidate for Ultherapy. The procedure is not meant to replace a facelift, so it is not recommended for people with a lot of loose skin. Younger people who are just beginning to show signs of aging generally get very good results with ultherapy. The best candidates are people with mild skin laxity, who are not yet ready for surgery. Regardless of where you are on the aging spectrum, Ultherapy is sure to give you a more youthful appearance.

How Is Ultherapy Done?(Procedures)

The device emits ultrasound waves that penetrate down to the deep tissue beneath the facial muscles, where the collagen fibers are located. The deep penetration of ultrasound energy is what makes Ultherapy so effective. It reaches the area where skin makes new collagen, and creates a heating response that promotes collagen production.

Collagen is responsible for maintaining the elasticity of the skin, and also prevents the skin from sagging. Natural collagen loss occurs as a result of aging, but without the necessary support the skin begins to wrinkle. Ultherapy impacts the SMAS layer below the skin that gives it support. This is the area that is generally targeted during a surgical facelift.  Ultherapy is able to impact these areas without damaging the outer, epidermal layer, or any surrounding tissue.  The deep heating triggers a healing response in the skin and also promotes collagen, which has a tightening effect on the skin.

Ultherapy is equipped with ultrasound imaging, and this allows clinicians to see the underlying tissue, so that they can focus the ultrasound energy where it’s needed the most for skin tightening.  In this way, they are able to get the best results possible.

Preparation & Recovery

Preparation for the procedure is minimal. Regular eating, drinking, exercise, and work routines can be maintained before and immediately after the procedure.

You should remove makeup and other skin care products from the target area prior to treatment. If instructed by your provider, you may take pain-reducing or anti-inflammatory medication before the procedure begins.

There is usually no downtime associated with Ultherapy. Regular activities such as work, exercise, or socializing can be resumed immediately after treatment.

You can start noticing the first results of Ultherapy within a few days, depending on your body’s ability to produce new collagen. Improvement typically continues for up to three months. The results will last as long as your body continues to produce new collagen and until the natural aging process takes over again. Based on your skin’s response to Ultherapy, you can decide if additional sessions are necessary.

Other Options

Ultherapy vs. Facelift: What’s the difference?

Facelifts and neck lifts are two surgical options which require incisions, stitches, and a few weeks of recovery, but each provides more dramatic lifting and tightening than does Ultherapy. For those who aren’t good candidates for Ultherapy, either because they have too much sun damage or have lost too much skin elasticity already, the cosmetic surgery route may be the best—and possibly only—option, if you’re looking for dramatic results.

Risks & Complication

Sensations of heat and tingling typically subside soon after the procedure. The treated skin areas can sometimes become flushed or red in the hours after the procedure, and short-term sensations including tingling, swelling, and tenderness may occur. On rare occasions, there may be some bruising or numbness, but these typically go away within a few days of the procedure.

Cost

Prices for Ultherapy will vary due to the area being treated and will be confirmed to following an initial consultation.

FAQ

How is Ultherapy different from lasers?

Whilst lasers usually work on the more superficial layers of skin for issues such as lines and wrinkles or pigmentation, Ultherapy  works on the skin’s deeper layers to lift and remodel the skin. As the two work on different layers of the skin, it is possible to combine the two for the best skin tightening laser treatment.

Can Ultherapy replace a face lift?

This treatment is often called a ‘non-surgical facelift’ but our consultants refer to Ultherapy treatment as more of an uplift than a facelift. However, it is a great alternative for those not quite ready for the surgical option, or perhaps those who have had surgery and wish to maintain the effects.

How long does it take to recover after an Ultherapy procedure?

There is no down time required following your Ultherapy treatment and you can go straight back to your daily activities, though you may choose to return home if you have taken a sedative for the treatment. There are very few Ultherapy side effects but mild to moderate redness and sometimes swelling is completely normal and soon subsides.

Is Ultherapy surgery?

Ultherapy is not a surgical procedure despite often being compared to a facelift and does not require general anaesthetic nor any incisions to the skin.

How soon will I see results following an Ultherapy treatment?

After around 3-8 weeks you will start to see an improvement in your skin tone and after a further few months any sagging will be lessened and skin elasticity increased. Optimum results for Ulthera can be seen at between 6-8 months following your treatment.

Is Ultherapy treatment painful?

This can vary from patient to patient, and there can be discomfort whilst undergoing an Ultherapy treatment. This is only temporary and is an indicator that the energy is being delivered and collagen stimulation has started.

What kind of technology does Ultherapy use?

Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound energy below the skin’s surface to stimulate the body’s creation of new collagen.  This causes skin to lift and become more toned and tight after a few weeks, making it the best skin tightening procedure.

skin tightening procedure.

Is Ultherapy one of the best skin tightening treatments?

Ultherapy is one of the best skin tightening treatments on the market as it is FDA approved and unlike other lasers it uses ultrasound energy that allows it to bypass the surface of the skin and treat depths not matched by any other non-invasive machine. Ultherapy stimulates collagen production in the skin’s deeper layers which results in a significant lift of tissue. Other lasers use light energy which does not reach deeper skin layers so can only treat superficial skin.deeper skin layers so can only treat superficial skin.

What happens during an Ultherapy procedure?

Following your initial consultation, when you come in for your face tightening treatment your practitioner will cleanse the area, apply ultrasound gel and use the Ultherapy ultrasound imaging device to determine the correct area to deliver the energy. During the treatment, small amounts of energy deposited deep in the skin’s layers may be felt as the collagen-building process is initiated. A face and neck treatment may take between 60-90 minutes, and the décolleté or chest area will take only around 30 minutes.

What is a non-surgical face lift?

A non-surgical facelift refers to a treatment such as Ultherapy which lifts, tightens and tones the skin for a youthful-looking appearance without involving any surgery, incisions or general anaesthetic. Similarly to a tradition facelift, this treatment will lift and sharpen the jowl area and jaw line, lift the brow and hide excess skin on the upper eyelids.

What does the ultrasound therapy do?

Ultherapy  is one of the best skin tightening treatments for the face and neck as it uses focused ultrasound energy below the skin’s surface to stimulate the body’s creation of new collagen. This ultrasound skin tightening causes the skin to lift and become more toned and tight after a few weeks.
